Injectables Q & A

What are injectables?

Injectables are solutions applied under the skin with a needle that treat wrinkles, add plumpness, and provide other aesthetic benefits and corrections. Some of the most popular injectables are:

  • Botox®
  • Dysport®
  • Juvederm®
  • Voluma®
  • Restylane®
  • Restylane Silk®
  • Lyft®
  • Kybella®

One of the benefits of injectables is that they can correct many signs of aging, including lines and wrinkles and loss of volume that can result in sagging and skin laxity, and they can do it without surgery. Different injectables used in combination can treat different areas of the face for an all-over aesthetic improvement that helps you look and feel more youthful and attractive.

How do Botox and Dysport work?

Botox and Dysport treat dynamic wrinkles — lines and folds that form as a result of repeated facial movements and expressions. Most often, Botox and Dysport are used to treat crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, and brow lines.

They both work by blocking the nerve signals that travel between specific facial muscles and your brain. When the nerve signals are blocked, the muscles don’t receive a signal to move during certain facial movements. As a result, they don’t tug on the skin and form lines and wrinkles.

Treatment results usually last from four to six months, and touch-ups can extend results indefinitely.

Do injectable treatments hurt?

Most women and men tolerate injectables very well. Both Botox and Dysport use very fine needles that cause very little discomfort. Fillers can be used in conjunction with topical anesthetics, or their formulations may include numbing agents to keep you comfortable.

What issues can be treated with cosmetic fillers?

Cosmetic fillers like Juvederm and Restylane fill in lines and wrinkles for a smoother, more youthful, less worn appearance. They also can restore plumpness in your lips and cheeks. Some fillers can be used to fill in scars, including acne scars, so they’re less visible.

Seeker Professional Aesthetics offers several types of fillers, so you can get just the results you’re looking for, no matter what issue you’d like to have addressed.

What is Kybella?

Kybella is a special injectable solution designed to melt away fat under your chin (called submental fat). The solution breaks down fat so your body can remove it naturally over time. Since it was approved by the FDA in 2015, Kybella has become a very popular alternative to liposuction for women and men with stubborn chin fat.
